Portuguese Podengo Pequeno
Classified as a hound, the lively and alert Portuguese Podengo Pequeno is an ancient breed renowned for its speed, agility, and skill in hunting rabbits. Outdoors, the Pequeno thrives on running, playing, and chasing, while indoors it proves to be a polite, affectionate, and delightful companion. The Pequeno is the smallest of Portugal’s three Podengo varieties, measuring between 8 and 12 inches at the shoulder and weighing no more than 13 pounds. The body is muscular with a slightly elongated back, complemented by a tapered, sickle-shaped tail. The coat may be short and dense or long and wiry.
